Despite the varied themes and methods presented, everything in this book shares one rather peculiar thing in common. Each of these routines came to Eric in a single “flash” of inspiration where everything rattling around in his mind (ideas, routines, techniques, groceries lists, embarrassing childhood memories, etc.) converged in a single moment of surprising clarity. The last routine in this book, bizarrely, came to him, fully formed, in a dream. None of this follows his normally slow and methodical approach to creating magic. Curious indeed!
